ABOUT US

We are your DHP Forum Executive Board and our mission is to make this organization accessible and educational for all members of the Duke community. We are dedicated to provide the  greater population with a deep and interdisciplinary understanding of the most pressing and complex issues in healthcare policy today.

Sherry Yang
Co-President

Sherry is a senior from Great Neck, New York, studying neuroscience and psychology. She is passionate about fighting for equitable care. With experiences like DHP Forum and Bass Connections, she is learning to develop technologies and influence policies that improve the affordability and accessibility of healthcare both locally and globally. Sherry loves that DHP Forum creates not only a platform for different voices to speak out, but also a space for diverse minds to collaborate on these pressing issues.

Elmira Hezarkhani
Finance Director

Elmira is a first-year from Chicago, Illinois interested in studying Global Health and Biology with a minor in neuroscience during her time at Duke. In her free time, Elmira likes to run and do taekwondo. Within the realm of healthcare, Elmira is intrigued by the role nutrition plays in public health. She is excited to explore nutrition and healthcare as a part of DHP's executive board!

Christine Bergamini
Communications Director

Christine is a sophomore from Lighthouse Point, Florida. At Duke, she is pursuing a double major in Public Policy and Biology with a certificate in Science and Society. She is interested in the intersection of science, policy and human health which is one of the reasons she is passionate about learning more about healthcare. Christine also works in a research lab studying the epigenetic effects of pesticides on mitochondrial health. 

Kenrick Cai
Co-President

Kenrick is a senior from New Paltz, New York, majoring in biology. He is interested in innovations in cancer treatment and immunotherapy. Kenrick enjoys DHP Forum because of the passionate unity that stems from bringing together students and community members from all sorts of backgrounds

Carsten is a first-year from Tustin, California studying environmental science and public policy. At Duke he hopes to focus on the communication of environmental science while pushing for school wide policies to advance sustainability efforts. Carsten hopes to learn more about healthcare as a part of DHP's executive board and explore how environmental health might affect human health.

Logistics Director

Eleane is a sophomore from Bellevue, Washington studying Public Policy and Computer Science with a minor in Global Health. She is interested in the role technology and digital health will play in improving access, affordability, and quality of care. Eleane is looking forward to engaging in discussions about the complex issues surrounding healthcare policies and their solutions.
